Caravan G1000 Radar, Traffic & Terrain System Checks

Trace the named Caravan GWX radar, TAWS-B, traffic and ADS-B system paths. A 46-page illustrated handbook, six interactive evidence exercises and eight two-stage cases distinguish self-test, antenna coverage, external-input response and restoration. Includes six fixed records, two entered calculations and a separate 40-question final.

What you will study

Trace the installed radar, terrain, traffic and ADS-B paths

Separate active GWX radar from received graphical weather, and identify the input, antenna, data, display and audio relationships behind each complaint. Keep alternative KTA 870 and GTS 825 installations distinct.

Interpret GWX configuration and scan-clearance evidence

Distinguish identity/status from a software message, then read the complete named operational-check record. Physical antenna contact remains a finding even when other bearings, tilts, failure presentation and restoration are recorded.

Separate terrain and traffic self-tests from complete checks

Preserve TAWS-B visual and aural response independently. Distinguish KTA 870 self-test from prepared ramp observations, and keep the installed KRA input restoration separate from the diagnostic session closeout.

Complete GTS progression and selected transponder evidence

Read initial and repeated quadrant coverage, calculate nominal segment time and actual clock elapsed time without inventing a tolerance. Keep GTX 345DR upper/lower antenna coverage distinct from deliberate GPS-loss response and the restored ADS-B state.

Complete the Rev A diagnostic learning path

Complete eight lesson checks, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records with 20 classifications and two entered calculations before the 12-question independent review. The lab has 24 completion requirements; the review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in one attempt. Pass the separate 40-question final with at least 32 correct. Online completion and supervised practical qualification remain separate.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the installed equipment, software branch and test stage behind a Caravan radar, traffic or terrain complaint.
  • Interpret independent radar clearance, terrain visual/audio and traffic input/restoration evidence.
  • Keep GTS nominal timing, observed elapsed time and quadrant coverage distinct.
  • Preserve selected-transponder antenna coverage, deliberate input-loss results and unresolved restored-state faults.

Aircraft and course applicability

Named Cessna 208/208B G1000/G1000 NXi GWX radar, enabled TAWS-B, KTA 870, GTS 825 and selected GTX 345DR/ADS-B branches, using supplied Cessna D2078 Revision 42, June 2024. Each exercise identifies its installed hardware, software branch and test stage. The supplied editions are study references, not a claim of current publication status. This is a system-check and evidence-interpretation course; full RF performance, internal component repair and operational weather-avoidance training are outside its scope. Current applicable aircraft/supplier data, installed effectivity and authorized personnel govern physical maintenance and aircraft release.

WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
