What you will study
Receiver, selection and consumer
Follow matched VHF blades and the common coupler to both GIA navigation receivers, then distinguish CDI, bearing, localizer/glideslope and audio observations. Compare the separate GPS1/GPS2 antenna paths and optional XM interface.
Acquisition, accuracy and restoration
Identify the installed legacy or NXi generation and configuration. Compare receiver-specific solution and signal evidence with position and altitude accuracy, then account for disturbed RF, bonding, data and configuration interfaces.
Practice, evidence and assessment
Eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases, a required measurement bench and twelve independent decisions provide 24 lab completion requirements. A separate 40-question final requires 80%; all activities are required for the completion certificate.
Learning outcomes
- Trace common VHF and separate GPS paths.
- Distinguish received data from source selection and consumer response.
- Compare both GPS receivers against the identified accuracy criteria.
- Preserve configuration, restoration and affected-function proof.
Aircraft and course applicability
Caravan 208/208B with the described Garmin G1000/G1000 NXi navigation installation. Covers VHF NAV/localizer/glideslope and dual GPS relationships. Identify the installed generation, LRUs, software and modifications. Stand-alone legacy navigation systems and aircraft-specific differences require their own applicable data. Cessna Model 208 Maintenance Manual D2078, supplied Revision 42 compilation, June 2024. Retained page dates: 34-56-00 description/troubleshooting April 2019 and tests January 2024; 34-57-00 description April 2019 and test July 2016; 34-60-00 description May 2024.
WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
