Caravan Structures, Corrosion & Damage Assessment

Connect Caravan load-sharing structure, measured damage, repair applicability and corrosion-protection evidence. A 46-page illustrated handbook, six investigation exercises and eight two-stage cases teach how to describe an injury and preserve the evidence needed for structural handoff. Includes six fixed records, three entered calculations and a separate 40-question final.

What you will study

Locate the member and investigate the full injury

Distinguish Model 208 and 208B structural drawings and stations. Connect skin, frames, stringers and loaded attachments to the visible injury. Separate dents, creases, cracks and material loss; investigate the inside surface and stated aft-load path instead of accepting an exterior photograph as complete evidence.

Measure loss and establish applicable structural coverage

Use a valid reference surface, repeated depth measurements, prior rework and the specified gage equation. Keep measured loss separate from the applicable allowance. Identify hinge/support replacement and fuel-bay repair requirements, complete source page-sequence coverage and the boundary between a supported assessment and an authorized repair.

Understand corrosion and restore the protective system

Connect material, corrosion mechanism, actual extent and program history. Distinguish CPCP classification from structural removal limits. Select the applicable cleanup and protection basis; retain material identity, surface preparation, compatibility, film condition and protection after later removal.

Preserve evidence through the final structural handoff

Keep known cracks and creases visible when changing investigation views. A no-repair record cannot clear a retained finding that requires repair or replacement. Explicit completed applicable work, restored protection and complete reporting remain separate evidence. Six immutable fixed records require 20 classifications and three entered calculations.

Complete the Rev A structural learning path

Complete eight lesson checks, six prediction-and-Apply investigations, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records before the 12-question independent review. The review requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in one attempt; the lab has 24 completion requirements. Pass the separate 40-question final with at least 32 correct. The certificate requires the handbook, mastered lab and final pass; practical NDI, repair competence and aircraft release remain separate.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the model, member, access and full damage evidence before assigning a structural category.
  • Interpret measured and previous material loss without inventing an allowable repair.
  • Connect corrosion extent, material protection and program context.
  • Prepare a traceable structural handoff that retains open repair and protection requirements.

Aircraft and course applicability

Structural assessment and corrosion-protection study using supplied Model 208-series SRM D5132-9-13 Revision 9, August 2018, and Maintenance Manual D2078 Revision 42, June 2024. Each example identifies its model, member, conditions and source task. Current applicable approved structural data, effectivity and qualified aircraft work govern actual repairs and release; this course does not establish universal removal allowances, calculate remaining strength or qualify NDI/repair performance.

WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
