Caravan Pneumatic Supply & Vacuum-System Diagnostics

Trace regulated bleed air, ejector motive flow and separate filtered airflow through the fitted Caravan vacuum instruments. Use a 50-page Rev A handbook, six interactive exercises and eight two-stage fault cases to distinguish supply, suction and indication faults, then interpret six fixed records and complete a separate 40-question final.

What you will study

Trace the two air paths before selecting a component

Separate the regulated motive air that powers the ejector from the filtered air drawn through the vacuum instruments. Follow the suction manifold, relief-air admission and warning branches. Identify the illustrated Model 208B mixed electric/vacuum installation rather than assuming every instrument on one side uses the same power source.

Use paired pressure and suction evidence

Explain why an obstructed ejector nozzle can accompany high measured pressure and low vacuum, and why a downstream deice leak can lower a common supply observation. Compare the actual symptom with staged hose, filter, relief, gage and physical evidence before assigning an unproved internal failure.

Keep each setup and filter function distinct

Distinguish shop-air supply substitution, regulator output setting and the installed engine-power sweep. Compare central-filter service flow with the separate relief-setting target and approximate low-warning description. Central inlet filtration and relief admission perform different functions, so their restrictions need not produce the same symptom.

Interpret fixed records and complete the physical job

Six required fictional records contain 20 classifications and three entered calculations. Compare complete pressure-sweep coverage, protected shop-air preparation, relief-setting security, suction versus warning delivery and calendar/hour replacement life. Retain failed conditions even when another reading meets. Complete the required consumer checks and correct fitting restoration in the applicable task sequence.

Complete the Rev A diagnostic learning path

The 50-page handbook supports eight lesson checks, six prediction-and-Apply exercises and eight two-stage cases. Complete those and all six fixed records before the 12-question independent review, which requires at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in the same attempt. The core lab has 24 completion requirements. Pass the separate 40-question final at 80%, with at least 32 correct. The online certificate requires the handbook, mastered lab and passing final; practical qualification is separate.

Learning outcomes

  • Trace motive pressure and instrument airflow as separate connected paths.
  • Identify the actual vacuum consumers and distinguish pneumatic faults from missing electrical warning delivery.
  • Select a source-supported next check from paired pressure, suction and branch evidence.
  • Interpret named test records, restore the installation and retain the earlier reached service-life limit.

Aircraft and course applicability

Identified Cessna 208/208B regulated bleed-air and instrument-vacuum installations in supplied Cessna D2078 Revision 42, June 1, 2024, Chapters 36/37 and the stated maintenance interfaces. Fitted instruments, aircraft serial and modifications determine applicability; the illustrated vacuum instruments are not assumed installed on every G1000/NXi or Grand Caravan EX. Use current applicable aircraft and component instructions for physical maintenance.

WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
