What you will study

Connected starting and ignition architecture

Follow high-current switching, machine drive and independent ignition branches. Understand the MOTOR interlock, manual ignition return and configuration-specific NXi starter feedback.

Useful maintenance decisions

Identify the fitted starter/generator, evaluate a brush-run-in record and distinguish rated GPU capacity from loaded starting performance. Preserve cooling and restoration findings.

Practice and demonstrate understanding

Eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases, a required measurement bench and twelve independent decisions provide 24 lab requirements. The independent review requires every critical decision. A separate 40-question final requires 80%; the certificate requires all learning activities.

Learning outcomes

  • Trace power, switching, rotation and ignition as distinct evidence paths.
  • Explain why MOTOR requires NORMAL and automatic cutoff does not replace manual switch return.
  • Interpret the correct model, rheostat, seating and GPU rating comparisons.
  • Build a complete handover with restoration and repeat proof.

Aircraft and course applicability

Cessna 208/208B installations described in the supplied D2078 Revision 42, including PT6A-114/-114A Caravan and PT6A-140 Grand Caravan EX. Installed starter/generator identity selects component work; Lucas 23081-023 brush work is explicitly separate from the non-field-serviceable -023A and other units. NXi CMC and optional overheat installations retain their stated effectivity. Actual starts, duty cycles and engine igniter work use the applicable POH/AFM and Pratt & Whitney instructions. Cessna Model 208 Maintenance Manual D2078, supplied Revision 42. Chapter 74 effective-page list Oct 20/2022 and Chapter 80 effective-page list May 1/2024. References identify individual task dates; Chapter 80 descriptions, troubleshooting, inspection and restoration are used with their stated component and serial applicability.

WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
