What you will study
Connect supply conditioning, filtration and heating
Follow fuel to the engine heater, gear pump, FCU, delivery line and divider. Explain how a discharge-filter bypass can preserve supply while removing fine-filter protection. Connect the fuel-temperature state with the oil route through or around the heat-exchanger core rather than treating every bypass as the same valve.
Explain demand, Ng feedback and metering
Distinguish the power-lever selection from mechanically sensed gas-generator speed. Learn how the FCU metering opening, regulated pressure difference and bypass return work together. The interactive explorer shows control influences without inventing a complete engine-performance calculation.
Trace P3 and Py through their actual control paths
Connect P3 compressor-response scheduling with acceleration fuel allowance, and Py with the power-turbine governing influence. Keep a known reduced signal distinct from an unmeasured restriction. Use a named pneumatic test and its allowed bleed locations to interpret control-air work.
Interpret duplex-nozzle staging and named tests
Understand primary and secondary circuits in fourteen duplex nozzles. Keep the identified primary, secondary and 60-psi functional check points separate from internal/external leakage checks. Classify light-streak totals and independent defects such as heavy streaks or drooling using the actual selected method.
Follow shutdown fuel into the EX ecology system
Trace cutoff, manifold dumping, bottom-case drainage and the separate ecology recovery path. Distinguish an electrical motive-flow shutoff command, connected drain tubing and actual recovered-fuel flow. A command or one open route does not establish every part of recovery.
Choose a discriminating comparison and verify restoration
Separate a real metering or flow fault from a sensing or indication problem using the identified equipment branch. Eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases and six fixed records prepare learners for a 12-question independent review requiring at least 80% and all eight critical decisions correct in the same attempt. Complete the lab and pass the separate 40-question final at 80% before the online completion certificate.
Learning outcomes
- Trace Grand Caravan EX fuel conditioning, metering, staging and shutdown recovery as connected physical paths.
- Explain how selected demand, mechanical Ng feedback and P3/Py inputs influence fuel delivery.
- Interpret the identified duplex-nozzle functional and leakage tests without mixing circuits, pressures or defect criteria.
- Use specific observations to distinguish metering, sensing and recovery faults and identify the matching restoration evidence.
Aircraft and course applicability
Grand Caravan EX with PT6A-140, including the named 208B2197 and 208B5000-and-on installation. NXi alerts and optional interfaces retain their serial, software and modification conditions. Source editions are P&WC 3075742 Revision 23.0, March 3, 2025, and supplied Cessna 208 Maintenance Manual D2078 Revision 42, June 1, 2024; individual tasks retain their printed dates. This engine-side course complements airframe fuel-system and control-rigging training. PT6A-140 test criteria are not substituted for the older -114/-114A engines. Current applicable instructions and installed configuration govern physical maintenance; online completion is separate from observed practical qualification.
WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
