What you will study

Governing and mechanical response

Trace governor oil supply, transfer, servo motion and blade links. Explain the opposing feather spring/counterweights, beta feedback and separate indication logic. Distinguish fitted Hartzell, McCauley and Grand Caravan EX branches.

Configuration-specific diagnostic evidence

Interpret A210507 versus D210507 governor test records and separate McCauley collar clearance findings. Connect vibration, blade condition, restored hardware and required performance checks without allowing one favorable result to clear another discrepancy.

Practice and demonstrate understanding

Eight lessons, six prediction-and-Apply exercises, eight two-stage cases, a required measurement bench and twelve independent decisions provide 24 lab requirements. The independent review requires every critical decision. A separate 40-question final requires 80%; the certificate requires all learning activities.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the installed propeller and governor before choosing maintenance criteria.
  • Explain how hydraulic commands and mechanical feedback produce blade response.
  • Interpret test speed, torque and clearance independently.
  • Build a diagnostic handover that retains unresolved findings and restoration requirements.

Aircraft and course applicability

Cessna 208/208B installations described in D2078 Revision 42: early Hartzell composite, McCauley and the 208B5000-and-on Hartzell aluminum branch. Identify actual engine, propeller, governor, serial number and modifications before selecting a task. Aftermarket propellers require their own approved installation data. Cessna Model 208 Maintenance Manual D2078, supplied Revision 42, Chapter 61. The chapter effective-page list is May 1, 2024; individual description and maintenance pages retain their printed dates. Study references are listed by task and page.

WWAOG provides independent training. Online completion records knowledge and simulation achievement; it does not replace observed practical qualification, employer authorization or applicable licensing. Use current aircraft-effective maintenance instructions for physical work.
