King Air B300/B300C Flight Controls & Troubleshooting
Explore the named components, make a prediction, then connect the supplied result to the system. This workshop adds coached practice alongside the course handbook and assessed lab.
Trace manual rudder control and electrical boost assistance
The King Air rudder remains mechanically controlled through the pedals, cables and local linkage. In the described Fusion arrangement, torque-transducer signals can also command an electric rudder servo to reduce pedal effort. Follow the manual load path and the assistance path as connected but different mechanisms.
Manual pedal-to-rudder transmission with a separate torque-signal, flight-control and servo-assistance input.
Recorded state: before the supplied change
Green outlines identify components named in the selected exercise record; they do not indicate a healthy component.
Named connections and what each arrow means
- Pedals and forward rudder linkage → Cables, aft mechanism and local push-pull rodPhysical relationship: Manual pedal force through forward linkage and cables
- Cables, aft mechanism and local push-pull rod → Rudder surface and control hornPhysical relationship: Aft mechanism and local rod turn the rudder control horn
- Two engine torque transducers → Boost selection and flight-control commandInformation / signal: Two transducer outputs supply the torque-difference input
- Boost selection and flight-control command → Rudder servo and cable connectionElectrical power: Enabled flight-control output supplies servo drive voltage
- Rudder servo and cable connection → Cables, aft mechanism and local push-pull rodPhysical relationship: Servo cable connection adds assistance to the primary path
Pedals and forward rudder linkage
Apply manual pilot or copilot input to the rudder cable system.
Supplied record: Right-pedal input pending
How it works with the rest
Interconnected pedals transmit force through the forward linkage. The primary rudder is a manually controlled surface; normal manual authority does not require rudder-boost assistance. Pedal adjustment and locks still matter in the actual task setup.
What the evidence must show
Identify the crew input, correctly prepared control state and actual movement rather than inferring force from an electrical indication.
Selected: Pedals and forward rudder linkage
Follow the change through the system.
Fictional record FC60-1 identifies the described B300/B300C Fusion rudder installation. Complete applicable ground preparation is supplied: controls unlocked, no rig pins retained, correct connected rigging, free cable/local-rod/surface mechanism and no opposing servo force. RUDDER BOOST is OFF. The recorded input moves the right pedal. Predict the normal mechanical response; no pedal-force, travel-angle or boost-test limit is assigned.
Before the recorded change
The rudder starts at its reference position. The manual path is connected and free. Boost is OFF, and actual right-pedal/surface movement remains hidden.

Course applicability and study references
B300/B300C Fusion arrangements in supplied Maintenance Manual 434-590169-0009 Chapter 27, task pages dated May 1/2018. The scenes use the described standard manual rudder and torque-transducer/flight-control-system (FCS) boost architecture. Actual serial, modifications, tab arrangement and servo installation determine applicable work; other King Air boost designs and ER/CER trim/anti-servo branches are separate. Fictional supplied records and original concept diagrams add no rigging limits, engine-run instructions, physical task authorization or graded credit.

Original learning diagrams and supplied training records explain the stated relationships. Current aircraft-effective instructions and authorization govern actual maintenance.
