King Air B300/B300C Fire Protection & Troubleshooting
Explore the named components, make a prediction, then connect the supplied result to the system. This workshop adds coached practice alongside the course handbook and assessed lab.
King Air fire protection: distinguish warning, command and agent
Explore how an engine-fire detector produces a warning, how firewall closure arms a separate extinguisher command and how the cylinder supplies agent. DET is the electrical fire-detection test selection. A normal test response, an arming indication and a satisfactory pressure reading each establish different facts.
Two related functions: detector warning and fixed-extinguisher activation — select a component
Green outlines identify components named in the selected exercise record; they do not indicate a healthy component.
Named connections and what each arrow means
- Sealed engine-fire sensor → Responder contactsInformation / signal: Heating changes sealed gas pressure
- Responder contacts → Warning card and cockpit outputsInformation / signal: Alarm signal through warning circuitry
- Firewall shutoff and arming state → Activation circuit and substitute test loadInformation / signal: Closed/arming state enables the selected command
- Activation circuit and substitute test load → Cartridge, cylinder and agent deliveryInformation / signal: Installed path: command to connected firing device
Sealed engine-fire sensor
Turn heating around the engine into a pressure change inside the sensing element.
How it works with the rest
The sealed sensing tube contains gases and an inner hydride core. Heating raises its internal pressure. Physical condition, required zone coverage and factory thermal settings are different properties from an electrical test response. The cited task prohibits applying heat as a field functional test.
What the evidence must show
Keep an actual thermal event, an electrical DET result and the element’s exposure history separate.
Selected: Sealed engine-fire sensor
Follow the change through the system.
Fictional B300/B300C record FP59-1: the identified engine-fire sensing element has a documented open-flame exposure. After open-flame exposure, the affected sensing element or detector/responder unit requires manufacturer testing of its pressure settings. A separate, already completed electrical DET record is available but hidden. This exercise reveals that record; it does not direct another physical test.
Before the recorded change
Element identity and flame exposure are recorded. Manufacturer testing/disposition is not recorded. The already completed electrical DET result has not yet been revealed.

Course applicability and study references
Selected B300/B300C engine-fire detection and fixed-extinguishing relationships from the supplied Beechcraft 130-590031-11 Chapter 26, effective-page list November 1, 2025, with individual task dates retained. Confirm the actual aircraft, component and current applicable task. This formative supplement uses original simplified concept diagrams and fictional supplied work records. It adds no physical test authorization, wiring sequence or maintenance limit, and it preserves the existing graded course and learner records.
- Detector mechanism and electrical-test boundary

- Control location, stored agent and physical cylinder evidence
26-20-00 p.1 and 26-20-03 p.301/Table 301 (Apr 15/2023). Firewall and extinguisher lenses have different meanings. The 80°F pressure interval and scratch-depth condition are applied to the identified source-described cylinder under the stated continued-service provision, with required hydrostatic testing documented.
- Protected activation test and existing course
26-20-05 pp.501–502 (Sep 1/2019) and Task 26-20-05-7200 pp.601–603 (Nov 1/2025). Accepted TM-059 R2 handbook, states and case teaching separate indication, command, actual cartridge/cylinder/delivery and restoration. This supplementary lesson adds no graded credit or changes to existing attempts.
Original learning diagrams and supplied training records explain the stated relationships. Current aircraft-effective instructions and authorization govern actual maintenance.
