Follow Fusion radio control and station audio

The active frequency, microphone destination, local monitoring and remote speech are related but separate. The later Fusion speaker-inhibit function adds a retained audio state that survives release of its momentary switch. Explore those roles and predict three supplied records.

01 / Explore the relationships6 selectable components

Functional frequency-control, selected speech, RF and station-output paths. Local sidetone and received audio do not pass through the complete remote transmit path. The speaker-inhibit control affects the output state; its separate warning input is explicitly supplied in that exercise.

Recorded state: before the supplied change

Green outlines identify components named in the selected exercise record; they do not indicate a healthy component.

Component purpose

EFIS / IAPS tuning interfaces

Displays and changes the selected COM active/standby tuning state.

Supplied record: COM1 standby entered; swap pending

How it works with the rest

The multifunction keypad panel opens the COM tuning window, accepts a standby entry and supplies a separate swap action to make that frequency active. Electronic flight instrument and integrated avionics processing interfaces carry the control information. The actual ACP XMIT selection chooses the microphone transmitter separately. A valid active-frequency change is therefore a control observation rather than proof of remote transmitted speech.

What the evidence must show

Identify the radio, active or standby field and actual XMIT selection before interpreting a tuning response.

Selected: EFIS / IAPS tuning interfaces

Exercise brief · supplied training conditions

Fictional powered Fusion VHF-4000 task record: the complete named ground setup, operational audio system and applicable control path are supplied. COM1 is the selected tuning target; its standby field receives a new test frequency while its original active field remains unchanged. No swap has yet occurred. Predict the effect of the supplied swap action without treating it as a microphone-selection or external-speech test.

Before the recorded change

COM1 active field: original value. COM1 standby field: new test frequency entered. ACP XMIT: COM1, unchanged. Required power/control setup: supplied. Swap response and external speech: not observed.

Course applicability and study references

B300/B300C Fusion communications in supplied manual 434-590169-0009 Chapter 23, May 1, 2018. The voice paths use the identified VHF-4000 and dB Systems ACP/Model 700 installation. The speaker-inhibit exercise specifically uses FL-1140 and on; FM-76 and on. Earlier ASPU and later RIU warning-generation branches retain their own applicability. Fictional records supply their complete conditions without reproducing aircraft actions or current maintenance authority.

  • Station audio control and independent inputs

23-50-00 pp. 1–2, May 1, 2018; supplied packet pp. 91–92. ACP 804/805 sends control information to Model 700; receiver, microphone, sidetone and outputs retain distinct routes. Earlier ASPU and later RIU generation branches retain their printed effectivity.

  • Later speaker-inhibit state and resets

23-50-11 p. 501, May 1, 2018; supplied packet p. 115. The complete test compares speakers/headsets and cyan message before inhibit, during the retained state and after the named reset. Applies to FL-1140 and on; FM-76 and on.

Original learning diagrams and supplied training records explain the stated relationships. Current aircraft-effective instructions and authorization govern actual maintenance.
